Sifu Shaunte teaching Wing Chun Kung Fu. Wing Chun is a style of Kung Fu that originated from China, the martial art was later refined in Hong Kong by the late Ip ("Yip") Man.  The largest influence on Bruce Lee's martial arts development was his study of Wing Chun.  He began training in Wing Chun when he was 16 years old under the Wing Chun teacher Yip Man in 1957, after losing several fights with rival gang members.  Yip's regular classes generally consisted of the forms practice, chi sao (sticking hands) drills, wooden dummy techniques, and free-sparring.  There was no set pattern to the classes.  Yip tried to keep his students from fighting in the street gangs of Hong Kong by encouraging them to fight in organized competitions.

He who excels as a warrior does not appear formidable. One who excels in fighting is never aroused in anger. One who excels in defeating his enemy does not join issues. One who excels in employing others humbles himself before them. This is the virtue of non-contention and matching the sublimity of heaven.  For further info on Wing Chun, click on "Kung Fu" link above.

Sihing Av teaching San Shou Kung Fu.  Sanshou means “free fighting”.  It is simply applying traditional Kung Fu techniques to real life use. It is a mixture traditional kung fu techniques geared towards full contact fighting. It incorporates aspects of kung fu that many people may not be aware of, such as Shuai Jiao (Chinese wrestling) and Chin Na (joint locks and grappling). Sanshou is taught to the Chinese military and police due to it’s effectiveness and practicality in real life situations. Military soldiers had used Sanshou in its early days as a testing ground for their fighting skills. Sanshou gave an opportunity to practice kung fu solely for it’s combative purposes. Through refinement, rules, and more refinement, it has grown to become a very popular sport and martial arts system. The emphasis of the program is for self defense, however students can utilize what is learned in class for competition as well.
